Complete overhaul and reconditioning of equipment

Nothing broke. The machine starts, holds its pressure, and nobody has logged it as a fault. It draws more power than it did five years ago, takes longer to fill, and the flow it delivers is no longer the figure from the acceptance test. The wear is not concentrated anywhere. It is everywhere, spread across every clearance, and no single part looks guilty.

An overhaul does not correct a fault. It returns the machine to its build dimensions. Full strip-down, every journal and every running clearance measured against the drawing, and anything outside tolerance replaced. DRN Industriel carries out the complete overhauls and reconditioning of this equipment, and also supplies reconditioned units.

Where the lost output actually goes

On a centrifugal pump the clearance between impeller and wear ring is the gap performance escapes through. New, it is a few tenths of a millimetre. As it opens, a growing fraction of the discharge flow bypasses the impeller and returns to the suction: the machine recirculates the same liquid. The shaft and the motor work just as hard, the electricity meter confirms it, and the line receives less. None of that presents as a breakdown.

What a complete overhaul consists of

The machine is stripped completely and cleaned. Every shaft journal, every bore and every running clearance is measured and compared against the original drawing. Wear rings are restored to dimension, the shaft is checked for runout and either straightened or replaced, the impeller is checked for balance and vane thickness, and the joint face is remachined if it has moved. What goes back together carries build clearances rather than arrival clearances, and the result is verified before the machine goes back.

The half overhaul is the expensive one

Restoring some clearances and not others produces a machine that looks new and behaves exactly as it did. A new impeller in a worn casing still recirculates. A new shaft in oval journals picks up runout again within a few hundred hours. An overhaul earns the word when it is complete; below that it is a repair, and it is better called one and bought as one.

Have the machine measured before you decide

Give us the nameplate and the flow you get today against the figure from the acceptance test. The gap already says how much the machine has given up.
